boxcutters are cool

Well last week I tried to buy the new sixtoo joint but amoeba didn't have it on vinyl, I guess it was released a week later and they were waiting on the shit. Well I said fuck it and downloaded the fucking album, figured I'd download it anyways so I could play a cd, rather than trying to record a record to cd. but man this shit is fucking hot. Sixtoo usually brings the heat so its no surprise. But I had heard some shit like this was on some rock shit and getting away from the world of rap so I didn't know what to expect. Well I don't really think its that far removed. Yeah you hear some influences on shit like some psych rock type shit and sometimes he does get cute with it like on Chainsaw Breakfast(sweet ass title for a song) but that track is like a minute, I wish it was longer though. All in all its your standard sixtoo nice and dark with that sinister feel to it but he has gotten better. It sounds like he's expanded from the duration album which would make sense, its been almost 2 years since he did that shit. He's still sampling its just on this shit he got cuter with live instrumentation and then sampling and arranging that, which is good. I generally tend to migrate towards sample based music, its the rap lover in me I guess. His shit is definitely more developed this days with more depth and over all richer sound. Damo Suzuki of Can makes an appearance, Storm Clouds & Silver Linings is one sick ass track. I've never really peeped much Can shit I keep putting it off even though I know a number of people who are all over their shit. I guess that's on the need to peep list. Some other fancies from Godspeed You Black Emperor also show up on this album.

motherfucker needs to go on tour now, I have yet to see sixtoo live and I've wanted to see him bust some raps for a long ass time now.
