Things I've Seen

Stef picked these up at the Devin The Dude show at slim's. We now have two hiphop coffee mugs, the other is a penalty records roster mug. Anyways after work on friday I hit up minna for L.O.W. It's pretty much just become a party of my weekly routine. I took an embarrassing photo and told some red stripe girls stories about getting drunk and stealing from churches. Then grabbed some shitty corndogs at Steff's sports bar and bounced over to the independent where Vinsol was playing records. I think there were some bands or something too. I stopped paying attention at that point. I was suppose to hit up Madrone for the Dirt party but a cab was calling my name.






Saturday I woke up with the hurt from 3 dollar red stripe bottles. I like red stripe but fuck that shit is a headache guarantee. Anyways after watching college football all day we manned up for the Tormenta Tropical party at the Elbo Room. I was juiced to see Toy Selectah already and the Bersa Disco dudes have been throwing some dope parties as it is. Last night was fucking ridiculous, elbo room had to be way over capacity. I usually hate the elbo room when it's crowded like that but last night was fun. Chico Sonida's set was fucking banging. People were all about the cumbia joints. Fuck I even heard a cumbia flip of tear the club up, shit was fucking ridiculous.

I'm juiced on the cumbia stuff that dudes are making right now. Oro11 was dropping some rap cumbia remixes that were really fucking sick. It's a sound that's I'm real excited about especially after hearing what some of the guys in Dallas are making. What you know about Tum Tum cumbia remixes? That's my shit! Mad Decent is going to be dropping Toy Selectah's 12" so if things go well expect to hear more of this stuff in the future. I don't know if the sound will blow up but latino crowds are feeling the shit out of it. Moving Tormenta Tropical to the elbo room was a good look for their party too. Rickshaw's larger space but you get a lot more brown people throwing a party in the mission. If cumbia can take reaggaton out of the game I will be a very happy man.
