I can’t tell where the hell this video was filmed but I don’t care what community center skateshop basement mom studio abandoned mall this was filmed out. I’m so about this even if I’m 9 months late on it.
This is off the latest from Genesis Owusu and goddamn son, this shit hits me in all the right spots. The reverb, enough distortion in the vocals and themes of survival against god/the system/ racism. This is a fucking repeat hitter for me all goddamn day. I’m fucking with it super duty.
This record has a variety of styles on it, sometimes you get more singing, other times you get some rapping and synths. You already know which styles I’m partial to but the singing is cool too. It’s a dope record. Stay Blessed was the first joint I heard and got me to check the rest of it out. I already copped the preorder off the strength of The Old Man, that song is too fucking tough.
In the few weeks ago it’s been a lot of girls with the big beat getting the play for me. My friend told me about Automatic, this female trio that’s on some no wave on Stones Throw that he thought might be in my lane. One look at the latest album and it wasn’t a hard sell, you put chrome boobs on anything and I’m going to at least check it out. They got some synth punk to some of their sounds but also some more laid back subversive themes with some sci fi popping. The album, Excess , with the Hajime Sorayama bust is for sure are of that era when the dream of consumerism meant Paulie was gonna fuck a robot no matter what the fuck Ivan Drago did as the whole world burns into a hopeless fire in the sky.
NRG is my jam. This is the one that hits all the shit I’m looking for in this style.
This one got that 70’s analog racing past the pixels while you yell at pedestrians. This is the ripper for me.
When it comes to these Darks joints for me it all started when I heard this. I was in this latino post punk wormhole and then youtube threw this in the mix. I didn’t even notice at first because I was driving then the hook comes in and I’m like yo wtf I know this. So I had to run it back immediately, and after a few spins I was hoping there was more of these kinds of covers which after a quick youtube search sure enough there was this whole little scene that had been popping since last year. Depresión Post-Mortem got some fire with these remixes but I still go back to this one over and over.
Once that herb switched it to X I had to be out but now I’m missing having a garbage dump for all my random thoughts so I came back to this forgotten ass website that I use to post on because we don’t have message boards and longer format doesn’t really work for IG. We’re gonna see how this works but for now just listen to this post punk bad bunny cover because it’s so fucking good. There is a whole scene of this stuff and I’ve been jamming it ever since I heard it.
Yeah it’s been down for a minute. Had to delete a lot of bullshit to fix some errors that were caused by who knows what the fuck but it’s back up now. I’m still figuring out what I’m gonna do with it though. I’ve mostly just been doing things on twitch. Haven’t done a podcast in a few years and I only write things on twitter really. Upgraded to this new wordpress that got all kinds of fancy bullshit. I don’t give a fuck about SEO fuckery or meta descriptions. Ultimately this a rap blog dude, we ain’t with all that.
I was in Mexico when this dropped but yeah I’m with any new 70th St joints right now
Man, RamBam is kind of becoming my favorite of the crew. He goes hard on every jam. Pooh runs out of steam at one point but it’s alright, that hook jams
